Here are the differences between choosing HTML vs Applet in Webi.
In order to change the HTML/Webi preferences you must go to Preferences and click on “Web Intelligence”.
Here are the main differences between these two modes:
#1 Selecting a data source Applet mode enables selecting from many different data sources while HTML only allows us to select data from Universes.

#2 Saving the Report In HTML mode you could only save the report as a web intelligence file whereas in APPLET you could save in in many formats including: CSV archive, Excel, Excel 2007, PDF, Text, and Web Intelligence.

#3 Exporting the report HTML mode allows saving the report as PDF, XSV, Excel, Excel 2007, Text through the export icon. Applet does not have the export feature and only allows saving through the “Save As” option.

#4 Customizing numeric data The Applet mode enables applying custom number formats. Whereas HTML does not have this capability.

#5 Conditional Formatting Applet mode allows creating conditional formatting rules whereas HTML does not.

#6 Printing the report In HTML mode, upon clicking the print button the report will first be exported to PDF and could be printed off from there. In Applet mode, the print panel is displayed immediately after clicking on print
