Commonly Used Directory Commands for Command Prompt

The below are some of the most commonly used commands in Command Prompt. I will be using some of these commands to run a simple Java program via command promt in my next blog post.

CD: Changes the existing directory

    CD [...]: changes the parent directory 

    CD\: used to go to parent directory

 DIR:  Lists the current existing directory

          DIR /B: Lists the  current directory in bare format (no headings, file size, or summary)
          DIR /W: Lists current directory in wide list format, sorted horizontally

MKDIR: Used to create a new subdirectory  (MD)

CHDIR: Used to change the current directory  (CD)

RMDIR: Used to remove a subdirectory (RD)

XCOPY: Used to copy a directory or subdirectory
