Here are the main steps that need to be performed to create a publication.

STEP 1] Go to “New” >”Publication”
The purpose of a publication is to create an automated process of mass distribution of a report (or reports) by tailoring them to individual or group of recipients (SAP Community Network, 2011)
In order to create a publication we need a folder containing four main elements:

  1. The report that needs to get published
  2. The publication
  3. An Excel documents containing a list of recipients for the publication
  4. A Webi report which uses the aforementioned Excel documents as a data source

This structure looks as follows:

STEP 2] Go to “General Properties” > Write the title of the “publication”.

STEP 3] Go to “Source Document” > Indicate the source, in this case the source is a Webi report.

STEP 4] Go to “Dynamic recipients” > Choose the WEBI report that contains the contact list for recipients

Note: click here for information on how to update contact list.

STEP 5] in the “formats” section: choose the format of the attachment to the publication email. I have chosen PDF as depicted below:

STEP 6] in the "destinations" section > Fill up the required fields as depicted below:

Note: if you are putting in a URL of the report in the message section, make sure to put the syntax “&sInstance=Last” at the end of the URL so that the last instance gets picked up.
